Dance Floor Five : Adam Christopher Paul’s war album

by CultureOfNone on October 19, 2008

Dance Floor Five recorded one rather unusual album in 2003, an ambitious and perplexing exploration of themes clearly influenced by wartime – particularly the conflict in Iraq; which was at that point years deep, and obviously affecting to an extent that distracted from the usual themes of romantic relationships and the associated turmoil.

The result was an album of inventive and explorative music, thoroughly decorated with sound effects and relevant source tapes – while maintaining a bleak and paranoiac perspective on the musical end of things; which was a very fragmented and collage-inspired effort. In many passages, the record conveys the effect of an audio snapshot of some experimental film involving both vintage and current footage. It’s an epic journey through sonic territory rarely explored – both emotionally and aurally.
