Cauldron ‘Tampering With The Unnatural’ (1998)

61VT2P9FBPL._SL160_Around ’95, I enjoyed a few delightful invites to drive out to Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan with my guitar and a handful of fave metal discs to jam with (my then Record Time co-worker) Zack Zuchowski.  He owned a 7-string guitar and a wicked drum-kit, and was the only person I knew in those days who could gab tirelessly about thrash and speed metal bands.

His group Cauldron was a hard-working presence in the Detroit area, playing a good many opening slots for major metal acts.

Cauldron is now immortalized with an appropriate (and accurate) tribute page on Encyclopaedia Metallum – a rare feat, as there are plentiful (and varied) musical acts bearing the same moniker.

Zack – to the extent I’ve researched – is now an armor wearing, castle dwelling Metal Warrior in Sweden, probably the truest example I’ve witnessed of metal dreams fulfilled.  And this album, ‘Tampering With The Unnatural‘ seems to be a somewhat vanished classic that has aged quite well: I’m sure that current Odenwrath fans want to hear this vintage great.
