This is one of those ‘promo only’ CDs that I found in the bargain bins at a record store where I spent too much time during my teens & 20’s. I was just beginning to warm up to Sunny Day Real Estate; and I was very lukewarm toward frontman Enigk’s ‘Return of the Frog King’…so this was a buy simply out of the notion it might one day be somewhat sought after.
Adoring fans will love it; and this review on answers.com gives you more insight than I have energy to provide. I’m just glad I still have it in my collection — now that I’ve moved on to really appreciating the ‘…Leland’ soundtrack stuff that Jeremy Enigk conjured.
I was also surprised that there didn’t seem to be existing links to share this material…It’s basically “live in studio” takes on album tracks: it lends a little vulnerability and mirth to the almost John Lennon-esque aura that the rock press was aiming to provide for Enigk around the time of this recording.
